STUDIES have shown that some of the key drivers to employee engagement include: trust and integrity, seeing a connection between individual performance and company performance, pride about the company and one’s job and employee development. TRUST: Keep a record of ALL of the promises you make to your staff and follow up in a reasonable amount of time. The more you keep your word, the more trust you will build with your team.
MY PERFORMANCE MATTERS: E-mail out a success story of the month to all staff to let them know that the work they are doing counts. Highlight a different department each month to share the wealth.
PRIDE IN THE JOB: Give each employee who has been on board for at least 90 days a business card with their name, title and contact information. This goes for staff at ALL levels. It gives a sense of ownership and pride.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT: Offer a monthly training to all staff in areas of job-related development (i.e. computer skills) and other stuff just for kicks (like kick-boxing?!).
